I met Lindsay when she was in Jr High with my son... I was the 8th grade discipleship leader and she SO did not want to be in the Jr High group... she wanted to be with the high schoolers and her friends there. But she stayed with us and I LOVED getting to know her, Christy, and Kristin (my now daughter in law =) And I was blessed and honored to get to be a part of her life as she grew into this STUNNING young woman of God! I was (years later ;-) blessed to be asked to be a part of her wedding to Matt. And while I do not know Matt well, when I see them together their love for each other is so apparent and true. A long the way I have seen them together a few times and watching him make her laugh, knowing that one of "my girls" has found true love, makes me smile =)

Katie... I have known Katie since she was like 10, we have camped with her and her family in Yosemite and were a part of the same church for years... She has always been a cutie, always with a giggle and a smile... but just seeing how she has grown into a beautiful young woman can take your breath away. Clearly she has taken Joe's breath away. With friends and family in attendance these two became "so married" on May 29th at the Faulkner Winery. One of my new favorite venues... EVER!

I couldn't wait to share this wedding, so these photos are taken by me, my Katie and Darcie. When we get the professional photos, I will probably do another post, because I am sure they will blow these away. This was one of those times, I wish I was a photographer and knew what to do with the amazing light, scenery and gorgeous people.

As a guest, after driving past some beautiful vineyards in Temecula you find yourself here. Walk downstairs, past some wine barrels and out into this view... through several archways covered with white star jasmine, you are seated in a beautiful english garden. Rolling Hills and Grape Vines green with spring all around you... Kind of a long post, but please enjoy Katie and Joe's Wedding.

From the moment I saw this venue online, I was smitten! I have seen wineries, vineyards and english gardens, but to have them all combined along with a beautiful day, a beautiful bride and groom and a special family... I was so excited to be a part of Katie and Joe's day.

I have seen my share of just married couples, but these two have just beamed at each other from the day I met them.

I love this shot of Katie and her parents... the backdrop for the day was to die for.

Of course a close up of the bouquets and Sher (Maid of Honor and one of my July Brides) insisted on the "bouquet face" picture.... they are all so beautiful.

A few of my favorite images Melanie and Baby Luke, Katie and her Grandma getting caught in her veil, Katie and one of her girls, and of course Jessica helping bustle her dress.

This was the other arrangement for the night, done on a very unique candelabra. Also done with Hydrangeas, Roses, Sweet Peas, Spider Mums, Lisi, Button Mums and Wax Flower.

One of our centerpieces from the day...filled with wine corks, Hydrangeas, Blue Bird Roses, Lisianthus and Sweet Peas.

These are Katies' beautiful shoes that her parents got for her in Italy only a few weeks before... I didn't quite capture the great color, but set against the AMAZING BACKDROP... they were perfect.

Thanks Katie and Joe for letting us be a part of your day. I can't wait to see the photographers pictures from the day! You guys were GORGEOUS that day both inside and out. What a beautiful day.

Surf and Sand Destination Wedding

It is not often that I get asked to do a Destination Wedding, for one thing I live in Orange County, not many people who live here go somewhere else to get married and take their floral designer with them... I forget that we have perfect weather and lots of amazing places to get married, like the Surf and Sand in Laguna Beach, and that people might want to come here to get married! This couple is from New York and decided to head west. The pictures posted today are from my iPhone... when I get the photographers pictures I will do a real post. It was a gorgeous day, even though rain was in the forecast (no fun if you traveled to avoid the rain). Jillian the bride was stunning and everything was simple and casual with all the details handled perfectly by Courtney of Joyful Weddings and Events. Flowers used were dark purple Lilac, Sweet Peas, and Calla Lillies. Cymbidium Orchids, Freesia, Hyacinth and a lovely dusty purple rose rounded off the rest of the flowers. Her bouquet was one of nicest smelling bouquets I've ever made. More from her at a later date.

I don't usually blog about a magazine, but this is special. I have been in the wedding industry for almost 20 years now as a Floral and Event Designer and I have never been a big fan of the Bridal Magazines.... there is just too much crap in them and usually my brides bring me torn out pictures of bouquets they love from a magazine they have, but that the flowers are from some highly stylized photo shoot, out of season or some weed flower that you can't find at the trade center. I then have to come up with creative ways to make sure my bride gets the bouquet she dreams of for her wedding day. So for those reasons alone, other than the occasional Martha, I have steered clear of the Bridal Magazine.

Until 2003 when I came across WEDDING STYLE by Grace Ormonde. This Magazine was and is beautiful, you can hardly call it a magazine with it's large pages and beautiful images of real weddings. And while most of my brides cannot afford the weddings or vendors featured in the pages of the magazine, they most certainly can draw inspiration from the pages and pages of beautiful images and weddings. So from 2003 I have made sure to have the latest copy of WEDDING STYLE available for my client meetings. They were so popular that I started giving my brides a copy of the magazine at our initial meeting as a gift. And while I do not advertise in any publications (referrals from all my amazing brides, works fine for me) I am always impressed with those vendors Grace Ormonde allows to advertise in her magazine, you always know they are of high quality and good reputation.

So back to my reason for posting in the first place. She has a BIG BOOK coming out and I am so excited!!! As much as I am NOT a fan of the Bridal Magazine, I LOVE BOOKS about Love, Weddings, Flowers, Photography, Details and Beautiful Things and her book "Being in Love Never Goes Out of Style" promises to be a Beautiful Combination of all of these things! I cannot wait to get mine and look through it over and over again, and have it there for all my brides to look through, while we joyfully pour over plans and designs for the beginning of their own Amazing Love Story! So Thank You Grace Ormonde for putting your heart into your art and giving us in the wedding industry something to aspire too.

Meet Tara and Bosco! I have to say I have loved having a Bride named Tara... And she is the best Tara I know! She was referred to me through Courtney of Joyful Weddings and Events, but it turns out she went to High School with my son Justin. We did a little long distance planning as she was out of state for most of the time. But I love her style and how much fun she is to work with!

It ended up that the one thing a self employed Floral Designer never wants to happen on a wedding day happened to me! I ended up having surgery just 9 days before her wedding and could only participate in the day a little bit. Thank God! For my amazing team.... Darcie (from Joyful Weddings and Events) and Devon truly stepped up and did it all! With some help from Mark, Chris, Debbie and my Mom! The wedding went off without a hitch! I was feeling well enough that I was able to meet the handsome Bosco and see Tara in her GORGEOUS dress, dancing the night away (which if you ask me was always their goal for the day) =) as we went to help clean up. MY GIRLS!!!! Megan had 7 Bridesmaids, 4 Jr. Bridesmaids and 5 Flower Girls.. So many girls! But so much fun. Megan made wands for the Flower Girls ahead of time, that they could keep. The Jr Bridesmaids carried Flower Balls made out of Green Button Mums with black pins. The Bridesmaids each carried a different bouquet of one kind of green flower, Spider Mums (Katie), Dendrobium Orchids (Kristin), also Green Roses, Cymbidium Orchids, Hydrangeas, Lisianthus. The Girls were all so beautiful and well behaved... even the older ones ;-)

I love when a photographer knows how to not only capture the Bride and Groom, but also the people and details that are surrounding them on their wedding day. Rarely does a bride notice everything she planned so carefully leading up to that day, she is swept up in a whirlwind of activity and emotion. I love that she can go back later and look at her pictures to see all the wonderful details and all the things that happened around them that day. A great photographer like Sheri manages to get that.

So things they are a changing.... Megan's Garden has a website, an actual website... it has been a long process but I did it and without spending the big bucks! I used a site called SHOWIT SITES and while they cater to photographers, I found it easy to use and to help me get Megan's Garden out there. So you can find us at www.megansgarden.net. Let me know what you think about it. I am so new at this and want it to be as useful to my clients or potential clients as I can make it. This was October 10th at The Forester Mansion (great place for a wedding), it even has a ghost! It was a small affair with a gorgeous garden, a mansion and a tent. With Black Magic and Champagne Roses! Ivy, Curly Willow, Bear Grass and Hypercanum Berries we created her and her Bridesmaids Bouquets and Centerpieces. With antiques all around it was gorgeous romantic wedding! Even more special because my whole family got to be guests for their first day of being married!

This day was a TEAM EFFORT! We had some wonderful details and so much fun and I can't wait to show more but for now I want to thank some pretty special people!

Sarah, Kelsey, Heidi and Makena did childcare and the parents loved you guys!

My sister Wendy made the Yummy Wedding Cake and had all 3 of her kids in the wedding and Kyle her husband performed the moving ceremony. Chris my brother in law also a repeat loader and truck driver and then Devon my sister and faithful partner in this crazy business. I could not do what I do without her! Justin, Kristin, MaryKate and Krissy....what great kids I have and how they love their sister! And My Mom Mary....she helped and helped and helped and we cannot get away with what we get away with without her! I love you all!

Megan Gets Married Part 1

So it happened!

Megan and Dom got married!

After 6 months of praying, preparing and paying :) The day came and it was a gorgeous day...after a series of cloudy days not common in August in So Cal. The sun broke through! A busy weekend to be sure, Friday was the Rehearsal Dinner, a great BBQ and Bonfire at Doheny Beach with family and friends. The perfect way to spend my Birthday!

Saturday was all about the work...flowers, details, benches, trucks and family and friends that we could not have done without! And after little sleep we headed into Sunday...The Day! With the truck loaded with 35 hand made benches by Mark and tons of other stuff and the flowers we headed down to the Ole Hanson Beach Club for the day and night! More to come...

My daughter is getting married! This is her bridal shower invite...she wasn't on the Magazine but could be :-)

She is getting married in 24 DAYS! Not 24 years, or 10 years or even 1 year....24 days less than a month!

One day she is taking less than 2 hours to be born and the next she is quickly headed down the aisle to be a wife!

Now my son has been married for almost 2 years, so this process of letting go is not new to me. But as I am sure any mom will tell you a daughters wedding is something altogether different. There are so many emotions going around, so many things to do, about so many different things. Add to that the fact that I am in the wedding industry and well I want it all....for her!

It is this feeling of I'm not done, I didn't do enough, I wasted time I should have spent with her. I have more to share, more to teach, more to plan. And yes I know she is not actually leaving, and I will see her all the time and still I feel like I will miss her. And now she will be his and not ours in just 24 days. Megan is this amazing blessing in my life. She LOVES Jesus. She is loving, smart, gracious, brave, self sufficient, helpful, and knows what she wants and beautiful on top of all that. Watching her grow into a Godly beautiful woman these 24 years has been an honor and more than I ever deserved.

She was a surprise....Justin was only 4 months old when we found out Megan was on her way and I was young... 2 babies when I wasn't all grown up myself was what I was faced with. And God just poured out His Grace to me, with her and Justin! Family and Friends were so good to us, supporting, helping and just loving us. And Megan just blossomed under all this love. And now we are giving her away, that part in the wedding when they ask "who gives this woman to be married to this man?" That will be a first time for us and it feels amazingly true, we are giving her away. Her fiance...he is great, he loves her and cares for her, I can see that and, in some ways better than we do. He loves Jesus too and for that I am thankful. I know she will be as much of a blessing to him as she is to us. I have prayed for him, even before I knew him and I know that God will truly bless their union. But I just can't shake the feeling that I am not done, I want more time!

Now we have 2 more amazing daughters to raise and maybe someday give away to be married and I am mindful of how short time really is and how much there really is to do....cuddling, talking, praying, playing, planning, spending time together and seeing all that God has given us.

24 years to 24 days so short the time....

This is Brooke and Heather... A wonderful couple who I was blessed to work with in a round about way. Brooke works where I used to work (years ago) at Horizon Christian Fellowship. I had the wonderful opportunity to play all kinds of parts in the Wedding of Brittany and Will. Mainly event designer, overseeing the details of Invitations by Dom Macaluso, Designing the Program, Floral Designer for the Wedding Ceremony, Cake Reception and Dinner Reception at the Surf and Sand Hotel and Co Wedding Coordinator at Calvaray Chapel Pacific Hills. This is my home church and the wedding of my Pastors son to the best friend of my Neice. So it was a wonderful combination of Family and Friends. Reception Details: Aisle Arrangements turned Centerpiece

We printed engagement pictures on business cards, a different one for each table and then attached the pictures to the back side of the place cards for the seating arrangement. Then had a 5x7 picture at each table and the picture on the card matched to the table you were to be seated at. It worked great and everyone got to see all the different engagement pictures as well as taking a picture home of the happy coupl

A printed menu that matched the custom invitations to the small dinner with a single orchid.

This was the wedding of Darcie King's brother Dan. Darcie is a wedding planner for Joyful Events. I had to leave because I had another event so I only have a few pictures so far. I will publish more when I get them. The lake is a gorgeous place to get married, except it was in the high 90s that day. But it is practically free to go there and has an amazing view and a large open air ampitheater.

A beautiful wedding and Bride. The Nixon Library is a beautiful place to get married and have your reception. Just be sure to ask if the Roses will be in bloom, they do cut them in the winter. This bride ran into that problem. Always ask wherever you go if they have roses when they get pruned for the winter.

So my sons wedding was September 22, 2007. I didn't have a blog then so I am now sharing the pictures with you. The Ceremony and Reception was at Gold Mountain Manor a beautiful Bed and Breakfast. Silly me didn't take any pictures myself...too busy with flowers, girls and well being the mother of the groom. These were taken by Jessica Claire. Hopefully we will have even more soon and I will do a slide show, for now this is what I have. And Justin built the arch himself....so if you need a custom arch built, I know someone who can build it.
